Before an audience of member country ambassadors, IEA experts and viewers from around the world, European Commission Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič will address the challenges of the changing energy environment. As the leader of the Project Team for the Energy Union, he works to prevent energy shortages, diversify sources and ensure a united European voice in negotiations to improve energy security, in part by increasing connection infrastructure, enforcing legislation and bolstering competition to help drive down costs for citizens and businesses and boost growth. He also co-ordinates the Commission’s efforts to ensure the European Union reaches its climate and energy targets for 2020 and 2030.
Vice-President Šefčovič will be the third speaker among the thinkers, decision makers and global leaders the Agency is inviting to give addresses on energy and other subjects. His speech, like the others in the series, will be live-streamed on www.iea.org and also available for viewing after the event. ….
