Dutch bank ING: Campaigners to call for coal finance cuts at AGM

At its 2017 Annual General Meeting on Monday 8 May, the biggest Dutch bank ING will face calls from European campaigners to end its financial support to companies building or planning new coal mines and coal-fired power plants. Despite its 2015 commitment to restrict its coal financing in line with the 1.5C target, the AGM in Amsterdam will discuss ING’s financial support, via loans and bond issues, to companies planning huge new coal infrastructure projects in Poland (PGE and ENEA) and Turkey (EÜAŞ), two key European coal hotspots in which the struggling industry is desperately putting up a last stand. ….
