ENTSO-E Winter Outlook 2016/17: possible tight supply situation in France due to reduced availability of nuclear power plants

ENTSO-E Winter Outlooks offer a detailed and consistent analysis EU-wide of risks to security of supply taking into consideration the possibility for a deficit in one country to be covered by surpluses from neighbouring countries. The calculations show that in normal and severe conditions Europe should be able to cover demand. However, France is facing its lowest nuclear power generation in the last ten years: thirteen nuclear plants out of 58 should be unavailable in December 2016 and nine at the beginning of January 2017 for safety tests and maintenance. ….
