Global Coalition Announces Major Commitments as World Leaders Gather at UN; Thousands of new commitments represent a 50-fold increase in one year
The movement to divest from fossil fuels and invest in renewable energy and climate solutions has exploded, growing 50-fold in just one year and topping $2.6 trillion, according to a new analysis released today.
More than 400 institutions and 2,000 individuals have pledged to divest from fossil fuels, the report from Arabella Advisors found. These commitments include governments and investors from 43 countries and multiple sectors, including pension funds, health, education, philanthropy, faith, entertainment, climate justice and municipalities.
