IAEA Director General Reports to the Board

IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano today delivered a statement to the Agency’s Board of Governors. Mr Amano briefed Member States on issues including nuclear verification and monitoring in Iran and the application of safeguards in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK). He reported on the Agency’s assistance to support countries affected by the Zika virus and updated the Board on the modernisation of the IAEA nuclear applications laboratories. Nuclear power projections for 2030 were also highlighted in the Director General’s statement. The Board, which meets five times a year at the IAEA headquarters in Vienna, Austria, is one of the IAEA’s main policymaking bodies. ….
