Lankhorst: ‘Alle energie-investeringen zijn welkom, ook Russische’
27 oktober 2015 – Alle investeringen in de Europese energievoorziening en -infrastructuur zijn welkom, dus ook die uit Rusland, zegt Gertjan Lankhorst, directeur van Eurogas.

‘(…) “In general, I welcome all new investments in pipeline systems for Europe, whether they come from the north, whether they come through Turkey. It is very good to have more possibilities for international trade in gas,” Lankhorst said in a Brooking Institute event on the future of European energy. (…)’
Lankhorst roept de Europese Commissie op het Russische Turkish Stream project te verwelkomen, mits het voldoet aan EU-regelgeving. Hij benadrukt het belang van gasinfrastructuur voor de energiezekerheid in Europa.
Turkish Stream, een gaspijpleiding van Rusland door de Zwarte Zee naar Europa, is de opvolger voor het South Stream project. De Russen stopten in 2014 met dat project, nadat verschillende EU-landen hun steun voor het project introkken. De Europese landen reageerden daarmee op Ruslands rol in de crisis in Oekraïne. Zowel de Turkish Stream als de Nord Stream (een gasleiding tussen Rusland en Duitsland) zullen de energievoorziening in Europa helpen, stelt Lankhorst tegen Sputnik News.

Rusland en Turkije tekenen naar verwachting aan het einde van het jaar de overeenkomst voor de aanleg van de Turkish Stream gasleiding.
Eurogas is de Europese belangenbehartiger van de gasindustrie. De 44 leden zijn bedrijven, nationale belangenbehartigers en internationale organisaties die te maken hebben met handel en distributie van gas in Europa.
