Nieuwe wet doet veel kolencentrales in VS sluiten

15 mei 2015 – Veel kolencentrales in de Verenigde Staten sluiten, sinds een maand geleden een nieuwe emissiewet in werking ging. Dit jaar verdwijnt 4 procent van de totale ‘kolencapaciteit’.

Dat blijkt uit een analyse van nieuwsorganisatie SNL. Het United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) vaardigde de MATS uit, de Mercury and Air Toxics Standard. De regel, die in april inging, moet vervuilende uitstoot terugbrengen.
