Winst E.ON daalt door lage stroomprijzen

13 augustus 2015 – Het Duitse energiebedrijf E.ON maakte bekend dat in de eerste helft van 2015 de winst met ruim eenvijfde is gedaald. Dat komt door de lage stroom- en olieprijzen en de zwakke roebel.

‘(…) E.ONs onderliggende winst liep terug van bijna 1,5 miljard euro in de eerste zes maanden van vorig jaar naar een kleine 1,2 miljard euro. Het resultaat was wel iets beter dan analisten hadden voorspeld. De omzet van E.ON groeide met 5 procent naar 57,3 miljard euro. (…)’

‘(…) The reduction in EBITDA is primarily attributable to a further decline in wholesale electricity prices, lower oil prices, and a weak ruble. These factors affected earnings at three E.ON units in particular: Generation (-29 percent), Exploration & Production (-19 percent), and Non-EU Countries (-33 percent). EBITDA at Renewables (wind, solar, hydro) was also significantly lower (-17 percent), albeit primarily due to divestments and substantial nonrecurring income recorded in the prior-year period.  (…)’

Ondertussen zit E.ON in een grootschalige reorganisatie, waarbij het bedrijf af wil van slecht renderende kern- en kolencentrales.

‘(…) A big restructuring is under way at Eon in response to the dramatic shift to renewables in Germany. (…) Eon, which posted a record annual loss of €3.2bn for 2014, is spinning off its nuclear and fossil fuel power plants to concentrate on renewables. Its former chief financial officer Klaus Schäfer will head Uniper, the company created to run Eon’s fossil fuel plants, which is due to be publicly listed in the second half of 2016. (…)’

‘(…) Eerder deze week werd echter duidelijk dat de Duitse regering wellicht roet in het eten gooit. Berlijn wil vermijden dat energieconcerns hun miljardenverantwoordelijkheid voor de ontmanteling van kerncentrales ontduiken door bedrijfsonderdelen af te splitsen. Daarom zou de Bondsregering de periode van aansprakelijkheid voor afgesplitste activiteiten langer willen maken dan de huidige vijf jaar. (…)’
