Siemens awarded power plant components for Keys Energy Center in Maryland, USA

Siemens is supplying the main components for the Keys Energy Center in Maryland, USA to SNC-Lavalin Constructors Inc., who will act as the turnkey EPC contractor for the project.
The 735 megawatt (MW) plant will be owned and operated by Public Service Enterprise Group. After becoming operational in spring of 2018 the facility will supply power for more than 700,000 households in the suburban Washington, DC, region.
The new natural-gas-fired combined cycle power plant will be erected in in Prince George’s County, Maryland, on a 170 acre site formerly used for a sand and gravel mining operation. Siemens will deliver two SGT6-5000F gas turbines, one SST-5000 steam turbine, two air cooled generators SGen-1000A, and the associated turbine I&C systems.
