Bloomberg: Topweek voor offshore wind in Europa

11 juli 2015 – Dong Energy bestelde voor 1,2 mrd aan windturbines bij Siemens . Dat (en meer) zorgde voor een topweek in de offshore windindustrie.

De turbines zijn bestemd voor het Britse offshore windpark Race Bank (aan de oostkust). Het gaat om 91 turbines van 6 MW.
En eerder in de week kon Siemens nog een andere grote order boeken: 67 turbines van 6MW voor het Veja Mate offshore windpark in de Duitse Noordzee (Highland Group Holding).
Maar er is meer: ‘Another project that could turn out to be even bigger than Race Bank and Veja Mate reached a milestone, with Dong saying that it had chosen Siemens as favoured supplier to its Hornsea Project One array off the UK coast. If the order proceeds, 171 of Siemens’ 7MW turbines will be installed, making the project the largest sea-based wind farm in the world. Project investment for Hornsea may be as high as $6.36bn and the turbine deal worth as much as $2.86bn, Bloomberg New Energy Finance estimates.’

Bloomberg bracht eerder een prognose uit voor de offshore windmarkt: ‘H! 2015 Offshore Wind Market Outlook’. Daarover zegt Bloomberg: ‘We expect a record year of offshore wind installations in 2015, followed by two more years of growth in 2016 and 2017.’
