Hillary Clinton is tegen olieboring bij Alaska

18 augustus 2015 – Hillary Clinton sprak eerder al haar twijfels uit over de boringen van Shell in het Noordpoolgebied. Vandaag was ze duidelijker: ze is tegen.

Een dag nadat de regering Obama Shell de definitieve permissie gaf om te gaan boren voor de kust van Alaska, zet Hillary Clinton op twitter dat het Arctisch gebied een unieke schat is. Op basis van wat we weten is boren het risico niet waard, stelt ze.

De tweet maakt Clinton, die in de race is om president te worden voor de Democraten, iets populairder bij milieugroeperingen.

Shell kreeg maandag definitief toestemming om te boren naar olie voor de kust van Alaska. Die boringen zijn omstreden; milieugroeperingen vrezen schade aan de natuur.
