Smart cities should be about cities and citizens, politicians tell Commissioner Šefčovič

Building successful smart cities requires a city-led and citizen-focused approach, EUROCITIES politicians told European Commission Vice President Maroš Šefčovič today. The EUROCITIES executive committee met the Commission vice president in Nantes for a debate on the future of smart cities.
This was an opportunity to shape the smart cities agenda for the benefit of the 130 million European citizens that live in cities. City leaders stressed the importance of involving citizens in the transition towards more resource efficient cities, using tools such as living labs to boost participation and co-creation. ….
