‘Te weinig aandacht voor veiligheid in kernenergieplannen China’
26 mei 2015 – De plannen van China om heel snel de productiecapaciteit van kernenergie te vergroten zijn ‘krankzinnig’, zegt He Zuoxiu, een vooraanstaande wetenschapper. Er is te weinig aandacht voor de veiligheid.
China wil de kernenergiecapaciteit van Japan voorbijstreven in 2020 en in 2030 de grootste producent van kernenergie ter wereld zijn. Dat past in de strijd tegen de luchtvervuiling en CO2-uitstoot door energieproductie. Na de ramp in Fukushima werden de plannen even stilgezet om de eigen veiligheidsstandaard te beoordelen, maar onlangs werd de draad weer opgepakt.
He Zuoxiu, die 50 jaar werkte in de kernenergie-industrie, waarschuwt voor corruptie en slechte management- en besluitvormingskwaliteiten. In the Guardian: “They want to build 58 (gigawatts of nuclear generating capacity) by 2020 and eventually 120 to 200. This is insane.” He ziet liever dat China eerst ervaring opdoet met de centrales die er nu staan en die momenteel gebouwd worden.
